November ~ Week 4 and Lego Solution #2

We had such nice weather the last couple of days, giving us more chances for barn repair.

Does anyone eat toast and gravy? I was scrounging around for lunch last week. Scrounging sometimes reminds me of my childhood and my mother's ingenuous ways of coming up with very tasty food for my very hard to please father. She pulled it off  90% of the time. We were always scrounging, and toast and gravy was cheap food. Maybe it's southern, I don't know, my father's mother taught Mama to cook (mama wasn't southern, not by any means). There's chip beef and gravy...my kids have never had this before and here it was something, growing up, we ate all the time. Gravy made from something (most likely bacon grease). So we ate toast and gravy for lunch, mushroom gravy, for my dad.
I took a photo just because I felt like it wasn't something I was going put on our menu (I have other scrounging go-tos), but to prove I did make toast and gravy.

This is an amazing picture: those are my husband's hands and here is evidence that the electric fence is up and maybe we can keep Ollie, now he can run out and bang on a tree instead of splintering the barn. Maybe, just maybe, those sweet hands will put my clothes line back up!
Well, it doesn't look like I'll be getting rich very soon. If you have boys, you probably know exactly what this means. I have quite a collection. Problem is: so do they. Vacuuming Lego pieces up hasn't worked and neither do screams of pain (ok, I exaggerate really hard) when I step on one, nothing short of blood worries anybody here. Why shouldn't I get paid for saving a Lego piece? So far I've made a dollar or two.

  1. Toast and Gravy..Sounds good. I use to make it for my family with chipped beef. I think I'll have it on toasted rice bread and use rice flour for the gravy..No beef but maybe Quorn grounds..

  2. Yes, I found many lego pieces when I cleaned. Even when my boys were in their 20's and had moved out I found them!

  3. I used BUTTER not bacon grease.....The bacon grease went in the green beans, and dried beans.

    Mountain Mama.
