November ~ Week 3

It was a quiet week here on Mosquito Creek Farm.
Setting up an Etsy Store. It's a neat place. Etsy is. I want to make my own shoes! (be quiet and finish that head wrap you started)

I am thankful that plumbing is in big demand right now, but working 7 days a week and most days are from dawn to past dark...leaving me and the kids doing our best to hold down the fort. I'm not whining, it's just Bryon does a better job with barn repair - although Nathanial is an up and coming Mr. Fix-it.

This new buck...nice guy but, he is extremely destructive, he also isn't helping our image with the neighbors, wandering into their yard, eating everything, he probably told them we aren't feeding him. Partly true, we found out with the size of his horns he can't get his head in the manger.
"Com'on Millie" he whispers, " I'm bustin' outa here and takin' you with me"
I thought maybe it was stress, missing his horse buddies. Then we thought maybe that's why he had to leave his first home. Oh well, I'm feeling like he won't be living here all winter. (note to self - the shovel is in the barn now)

  1. He's very handsome with those horns but they can cause problems! Ours wandered into the garden one too many times and hubby said they had to go. It was sad but we needed the garden more than the goats. My cow doesn't cause nearly as much trouble! :) And we love the cream we get for making butter. The soap is beautiful. I really need to try making some. I have the lye but haven't taken the plunge yet. It's nice when they have plenty of work but they're sure missed for some of those chores. Have a great week.

  2. Yes, if we had more land and pasture I would have a cow, they definitely stay put better than goats. The butter, cream, cheese are a dream!

You have a great week, too!

    Yes, make some soap!
