Classical Literature To Your Ears
There are stories on tape and then there is LibriVox Recordings. We have enjoyed many hours listening to everything from Kidnapped by Robert Louis Stevenson to the Tale of Timothy Turtle by Aurthur Scott Bailey. Some of the books are read by one reader and some by different readers. All are classics and from the public domain. There are alot also that are read in different languages. The only thing that is a bit discouraging is some of the accents, tho in still in English, are hard for the children to understand. Oh, but I love to hear a Scottish accent! Just thought I would share that with everyone- maybe you didn't want to read Ben Hur, but you could listen while folding laundry! It is better than TV/movie any day. I am going to listen to Green Mansions by W.H. Hudson this week.

Remember stringing beans while listening to audio books?

I remember listening to the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy and filling up my drawing book on what I thought the Hobbits looked like. Green beans? It went by so fast I don't remember!
